I assume you moderate comments and won't actually post this, but you may do so if you wish. I prayed this novena (or a version of it) over Christmas of 2006. My husband and I had already been trying to conceive for over a year. I've always had a devotion to St. Anne. My prayer intention was for a child, somewhat different from what you suggest, but, I think, understandable.
Of course, I know as well as you do that it may well be that my prayers were answered for some time in the future. Perhaps I will bear a child shortly before the eventual hysterectomy necessitated by my endometriosis.
But that wasn't what I thought and, more than two years later, it is not what I think. I don't think I prayed for a child at all after that. The long drawn-out journey of infertility and reshaping my life around a lifestyle and values I never had and never wanted (two young professionals without children are not that much different from two single people, really) have shaken my faith substantially. Recently, I have been trying to recover the foundations I had.
But I don't believe God is interested in hearing my prayers for a child. And so, from my point of view, your offering of the novena rings perhaps somewhat hollow. But maybe it will help someone else.
We all must find our way, no matter what the cross is...
We are deeply sorry that this post affected you this way. Our hope is to lift souls that are feeling alone, not to lead them into the dark, but bring them to a place of peace.
I pray for those of you that feel so very alone right now. Life with this heavy cross is unbearable at times, especially when we see little babies and pregnancies all around.. Yes, it feels as if we will drown and never see the light of day. The hope is that time will pass as you are seeking to find good health and God's will. Also, that those around you or within the Church community will be led to keep you lifted in prayer, prayer from the heart.
Remember God does not leave us, in the darkness it does seem that way, but actually He is closer than you think.
As the Divine Mercy says, "For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world." "Jesus I trust in YOU"...
God wants to hear from all of us, there is never a point in time that He doesn't ask us to to knock on the door, which is prayer. The truth about a marriage that does not conceive, what you say is not true within our Faith of the Catholic Church. You and your husband can be fruitful, it is the darkness and the hopeless feelings that we have that make us feel this way. Your marriage can and will be fruitful as you turn your hearts to Our Lord in His own passion.
I believe when we are faced with such heavy crosses we must run to Jesus in Adoration! We can not stop seeking Him. Continue to TRUST!!!
